Cambodia Casinos

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are based in a generally tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and though visas are supposedly required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of many borders.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship casino, highlights 150 one armed bandits and 60 tables. The Naga river boat never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel compound that features a number of luxuries aside from the gambling den, which contains ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
