Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is prohibited. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny space in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime destination, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai laborers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of many borders.

The original Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling den, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that features numerous conveniences on top of the casino, which houses ten thousand square feet of 130 one armed bandits and 88 table games.
