Cambodia Casinos

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the border from next door Thailand, in which gambling hall betting is not legal. Eight gambling halls are based in a generally tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime area, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and although visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are means around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the common table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international vacation and hotel compound that contains many conveniences accompanying the gambling den, which houses 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and 88 table games.
